Running woes

Just 5 days before my BIG race...ok, it's only a 5k, but it's BIG to me because it's going to be my FIRST RACE EVER! Anyway, just 5 days before (this would be just 2 days ago, Monday) I was working in the yard, in flip flops, and totally took a chunk out of my heel with the wheel barrow! NOOOOOO! I'm not being wimpy here, but it really hurt. I was planning on running Monday night but decided that my injury was just too great to even attempt running on. So last night I decided to go on a short run so I don't forget how to do it by Saturday. I put on a band aid, my running shoes, and limped out the door. Walking was KILLING me. How was I going to make it? But, I toughed it out and started running. And you know what? I couldn't feel a thing! It is a running miracle! Of course, I still kept it a short mile and a half run because, you know, I didn't want to push my luck, but it was a fantastic run! Now I know that I am ready. Injured and all, I'm doing this race. I can't wait!!

Green Smoothie Update

I just can't handle the idea of the green smoothie girl getting a bad name among the 5 people who read my blog, so I would like to put out a new post. She really has something great going here. Tonight we made a smoothie that is more like troll poop than the original ogre buggers we made last time. While both these names don't sound appealing at all, those are what we came up for the kids sake. This time we added mixed berries, and it tasted WAY better.

I made a green smoothie for the first time. (greensmoothiegirl.com) I want the kids to eat them, too, so I named it "Ogre Smoothie" to see if that would work. And it did. At first they were gulping it down and then as a little time went by, they decided it was disgusting. What? A 90% spinach smoothie doesn't appeal to a 3 and 5 year old? Weird. Maybe more fruit next time to ease them into it. In all reality, though, it wasn't bad. I think I could get used to them.On Saturday night I stayed up. And when I say 'stayed up' I mean I did not sleep one minute. I sewed and sewed until all my projects were done. I didn't think it was going to take me that long, but when 6:10am rolled around, I decided might as well just get in the shower. Maybe even make it to church on time. That didn't happen, but at least the girls looked super adorable in their new dresses, Josiah looked fantastic in his new tie, and I actually did my hair. Sorry, no pics of the latter two.Lucy and Josiah put this up in the big front window for all the world to see. When I saw it, all I could say is "Very appropriate." So we left it there for fair warning to anyone that might visit. After so many years of sleeping in their beds, Lucy and Josiah informed us that they were done! So, this is where we found them.
