Cupcakes!

So, who doesn't love cupcakes?? It was so funny...on Friday morning, Josiah woke up and went straight to the drawer with the sprinkles. ALL morning he said "Sprinkles, Mommy! Cupcakes! Sprinkles!! Now, Mommy, Sprinkles!!!" So funny. I told him after breakfast, getting ready, and cleaning up that we could make cupcakes. "And sprinkles, Mom!" So, after all that, I remembered that I had used all the eggs for breakfast. This is torture!! So, we jump in the car, and by this time it's almost time for lunch. So we get eggs, go home, and they kids are so beyond ready for cupcakes! We cook them, and the kids want to frost them right away, but it's time for lunch, and I know if we decorate the cupcakes now, then we'll eat them, and lunch will never happen. So I send the kids outside while I make lunch and let the cupcakes cool. FINALLY, after lunch we get to frost and decorate the cupcakes with sprinkles! Even though it took us about 6 hours to finally get to the good part, it was worth the wait! Lucy's had about a cup of frosting per cupcake, and Josiah's had the same amount of sprinkles! Love those kids!

I AM WOMAN!!!

Our roof had a few missing shingles, and a couple more that just needed to be tapped down. Of course, climbing on the roof is a 'man's job' but not for this household! Jordan was more than willing, and absolutely planning on taking on this responsibility, but since he is working about 120 hours a week, I knew it wasn't super high on his priority list. So, I got the roof cement, roof nails, shingles, and utility knife myself and went to it! Wow, that was fun! I'm totally a Ms. Fix It, and accomplishing something feels wonderful! My father-in-law always tells me that I don't need a man - just the money he brings in so I can do all my projects. While I love projects, I would miss my husband very very much!

Who in their right mind???

Last night, of course, was The Office season premier. Also what happened to be schedule last night was a parent night at Lucy's preschool! WHAT??!! Who in their right mind would schedule something on the same night, at the same time as The Office premier???? And while I was driving there, there were cars all over the place: getting food at stores and restaurants, getting gas for their car, and who knows what other unworthy activity! Didn't they know they were missing it?? Ok, ok. I guess not everyone in the world is a huge fan of The Office (GASP!) so I will let them go about their very deprived lives. And, luckily NBC puts it online, so you know what Jordan and I will be doing tonight!! I'm so tempted to watch it right now...but no, I will show some self restraint (I have none for brownies, so lets see if I have any for The Office) and wait until my hubby gets home so we can enjoy it together.

You guessed it...

Blue Day at Preschool!!! I sure love this preschool thing. It's so much fun to do little extras, just for the fun of it! I don't know about the kids, but I'm having a blast! The other day Lucy came home singing: "Here is the doughnut, big and fat! Here is the hole, but you can't eat that!" Complete with hand movements, and body groovin'! So cute!

Also, Lucy has this new tradition. On the way to school she sings: I love my mom --uh huh-- She is so cool --uh huh-- And now it's time for having fun at school!

Canning Goddess

Well, ok, not quite a Goddess, but I try. So, I love being domestic. And I've started into the canning crowd! Yesterday, and when I say that, I mean ALL DAY yesterday, I canned corn. Here are my glorious results!!

Life's Lessons

Well, I don't have the pictures to prove it, but this week has been a tough one for Josiah. First he learned that the stove is hot. Josiah is a really good kid, but he loves to do the opposite of whatever I ask him. So when he was helping me cook some mac n cheese for lunch I told him not to put his hand on, around, or anywhere close to the stove or pot, he promptly put his entire hand on each burner, just to check it out. Before I could get to him (yes, I was standing about 2 inches away, but this kid is quick, and determined!) he put his whole hand flat down on the hot burner. Not a good thing. As he was screaming and I was running cold water on him Lucy explained "Well, Josiah, now you know not to put your hand on the stove, right?" Such a big helper.
The next lesson learned by our little man was that of knives. Turns out Mom was right again. We shouldn't play with knives. Who would've ever thought that Mom actually knows what she is talking about??? Apparently Josiah still thinks otherwise. He got the knife and sliced his finger pretty deep. Once again, not a good thing. But, trusty Lucy was there to teach him the life lesson: "Ok, Josiah, we really shouldn't play with knives or else we could get cut!" Thanks, Lucy.

Bubble Beards

Tonight we had a blast jumping on the trampoline as a family, and we all came in with very dirty feet. So we decided to take a foot bath together, which quickly turned into much more fun than just a foot bath. How did I get such cuties???

It's Official

So, there's no turning back now. I'm officially a Mormon Mom, and I've got the minivan to prove it! After BOTH of our cars broke down at the same time we decided that having no cars wasn't an option. So we took the plunge and joined the wonderful world of minivan ownership! I have to admit, in spite of my pride and really preferring a tricked out super sweet SUV, I love it!

Poor Lucy

Aaahhh...Lucy's first sick day. She woke up this morning with a fever and I have never seen such a sad girl!! She promised me that even though she was sick she wouldn't get anyone at preschool sick. So I had to try to convince her that tomorrow is a new day, and preschool will be there.

In The Mud

I think being outside is the best thing ever. We love jumping on the trampoline, playing in the sandbox. swimming, playing tag, finding bugs, and anything else you can think of to do in the back yard. And the kids are true dirt lovers. All summer they have loved making mud pies, running through puddles, and creating face and body paint out of mud. They both also love being naked, and this is a great excuse to take their clothes off...double the fun! Unfortunately I lost most of those pictures from my camera, so this is what I've got left. How can anyone resist joining in the fun????

Red Day

Today at preschool it was Red Day. Yesterday when Lucy got home, she informed me that her teacher told them they needed to be all red: red hair, red nails, red skin, red clothes, the whole bit. Although that sounded very exciting, I was pretty sure that those weren't the exact words from her teacher...so we did the best we could. Lucy was definitely the redest kid there, though! And, of course, Josiah was dressed all in red, too.

Lucy's First Day of Preschool

Well, the day has arrived. On September 2nd, our little girl started school...preschool that is. She thinks she is so grown up, and I'm starting to think the same thing! She's been asking all summer when preschool starts, and even informed me that she needed a new outfit for the first day. Luckily she has grandparents that love her so she got more than just one new outfit. Josiah, of course, wanted to be included, so he dressed up for the first day of school as well!
