Well, since it is now January and I haven't actually gotten the letters mailed yet...Jordan thought it would be a good idea to post it. And maybe I will actually get them mailed out by Easter...but don't hold your breath.
Dear Family & Friends, December 2008
We hope this letter finds you all doing well and enjoying those pleasant moments life provides us with each and every day. We recently experienced the dedication of the Twin Falls LDS temple, and were thrilled with the opportunities we had to participate in the open house. It is such a blessing to have this temple within a 45 minute drive. We are also looking forward to our new arrival to debut in June 2009! This gives Lucy and Josiah one more thing to argue about (A girl! No, a boy! A girl! No, A boy!, etc., etc., etc.). As for the rest of us…
Jordan has been busy as usual as a family therapist and school counselor, and is looking to obtain his clinical licensure (i.e., private practice license) in the next month or two. It is the required studying and clinical exam itself he is not all that eager about. Jordan still adores Karen after 7 ½ years of marriage, he appreciates the time he gets to play with Lucy and Josiah, and (while playing) Jordan is often more of a kid than the kids.
Karen has been mastering her Martha Stewart-like talents (e.g., stitchery, knitting, baking, decorating, etc.), she has recently been called as 1st Counselor in the Primary, she ensures all surrounding neighbors receive some sort-of care package for each holiday and un-holiday, and she manages to juggle two kids (not literally, but Karen can do just about anything). Karen loves being a mom, and is working at becoming the world’s best sleeper-inner each morning.
Our beautiful little Lucy is, well…not so little. As a 4 ½ year-old, Lucy is having a blast and learning exciting new things at pre-school, she loves to make friends, and she flounders somewhere between naughty and nice—might need some work to earn the “butterflies, princesses, and fairies” she asked Santa for this year. Over the summer, Lucy had fun with swimming lessons, riding her bike, eating all of mom’s tomatoes before they turned red, making mud pies with Josiah, and visiting “California Grandma and Grandpa.”
Josiah, Josiah, Josiah. Our dimple-cheeked, toe-headed, brown-eyed toddler is generally a pleasure to be around, as his humor has mom and dad busting a gut on a daily basis (or maybe that is all the eggnog dad has consumed over the last couple of weeks). Anyway, Josiah is well on his way to his becoming a true Robins boy: throwing anything and everything, jumping on the couch, doing handstands and somersaults, antagonizing his sister, using anything that resembles a bat as a bat, sword, gun, or a beating stick. He has even learned how to belch, box, and banter (not sure what “banter” means, but it starts with a “b” and it sounds good).
Merry Christmas! Love, the Robins Family
